Anioma FC has formally announced its launch with a mission to identify, develop, and showcase footballers from Anioma in Delta State and across Nigeria.
The club revealed in a statement that it will play in Blue and Gold, carrying the tagline “Flagship of the River Niger.”
“The club will provide structured pathways—from grassroots to professional opportunities—for players who have the talent but lack access, exposure, and support. It will operate from Delta North, with its administrative headquarters in Washington, DC, to connect local potential with global football networks,” the statement read.
Founder Henry Ogwu emphasized the need for structure and trust in Nigerian football development.
“Nigeria doesn’t suffer from a talent shortage—what we lack are platforms, structure, and trust. Our club exists to change that. We’re building a reliable pathway that starts in our communities and opens doors to academies, universities, and professional clubs at home and abroad.”
He further highlighted the gaps Anioma FC seeks to address.
“Nigeria is one of the world’s richest reservoirs of football ability, yet countless players remain unseen due to limited scouting reach, inconsistent coaching standards, and scarce resources for player welfare. Anioma Sporting FC will address these gaps through a development model that is community-first, data-informed, and education-aligned.”
Founded in 2020, Anioma FC says it is adopting a community-driven approach to build credible opportunities for Nigerian players.
“With administrative headquarters in Washington, DC, and a development model grounded in education, welfare, and performance, the club stands as the Flagship of the River Niger—turning hidden potential into visible opportunity,” the statement added.
