APC Primaries: Borno Constituency Election Declared Inconclusive

The Primary Election Committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Borno State has declared one out of the 10 elections for the Borno House of Representatives tickets inconclusive.
The chairman of the committee, Prophet Jones Ode Erue, disclosed this in an interview with journalists at the APC Secretariat in Maiduguri, on Sunday.
According to Erue, the committee took the decision following a complaint received from Askira-Uba/Hawul federal constituency, by one of the aspirants, Comrade Audu Garba Zali.
“Therefore, our committee shall wait for the report of the Appeal committee before results are announced,” he said.

The chairman explained that direct primary elections were successfully conducted in 2 of the ten federal constituencies.
“Direct primaries were conducted in Bama/Ngala/Kalabalge and Maiduguri (Metropolitan) federal constituencies, where Mustapha Abdullahi and Hon Abdulkadir Rahis won by majority votes of 20,509 and 38,576 respectively,” he said.
He also declared that five out of the 10 aspirants won through consensus, and gave the names as: Hon Usman Zanna (Magumeri/Kaga/Gubio federal constituency); Dr. Kaumi Umara Zulum (Dikwa/Konduga/Mafa) Hon Ahmed Satomi, (Jere federal constituency); Hon Ahmed Jaha (Gwoza/Chibok/Damboa federal constituency) and Hon Fati Kakenna (Mobbar/Guzamala/Abadam/Kukawa).
Erue also declared that Hon Bukar Talba (Monguno/Marte/ Nganzai federal constituency) and Hon Mukhtar Betara Aliyu (Biu/Bayo/Kwaya/Shani federal constituency), have secured their tickets unopposed.
He noted that the committee had effectively supervised and monitored the conduct of the primary elections across the 27 local government areas, and 312 electoral wards constituting the ten (10) federal constituencies in Borno State.
He said the election was monitored and witnessed by officials and representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as relevant security agencies.
“They observed the process in line with established electoral procedures and democratic standards,” he said.
He added that the committee was fully satisfied that the entire exercise was conducted in strict compliance with Electoral Act, the constitution of the party, approved guidelines, and the directives of the APC.
