The police and members of vigilante group in Kano State have foiled an attempt to kidnap the village head of Garin Babba village, Abdulmuminu Mudi, of Garun Mallam Local Government Area of the state.
City & Crime learnt that suspected kidnappers invaded Garin Babba village around 3:30 am on Tuesday and took the village head but he was rescued by the operatives.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said on 09/08/2022 at about 0130hrs, a report was received that gunmen on motorcycles kidnapped the village head.
He said, upon receipt of the report, a combined team of policemen from the Command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad, Operatives of Garun Mallam Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Garun Mallam Division, CSP Usman Maisoro and local vigilantes in the area were mobilized to rescue the village head and arrest the culprits.
He said the kidnappers abandoned the village head and three motorcycles, adding that the victim was rescued unhurt and the motorcycles recovered.
A member of the security committee at Garun Malam, Aminu Garba Ali, said, “They came around 3:30 am and tried to take the village head.
“They couldn’t go with him because the vigilantes foiled the attempt, rescued the victim and recovered three of their motorcycles.”
