Bauchi schools to resume April 6 after Ramadan break

The Bauchi State Ministry of Education has announced that all schools in the state will reopen on Sunday, April 6, 2025, following a five-week Ramadan break.

In a statement released on Thursday, the ministry’s Information and Public Relations Officer, Jalaludeen Usman, said both day and boarding schools are expected to resume on the stipulated date. He also warned that late resumption will not be tolerated.

“Parents and guardians are advised to ensure their wards resume on time to prevent disruptions to their academic progress,” the statement added.

The schools had initially closed on March 1, 2025, as per the 2024–2025 academic calendar. However, the prolonged closure drew criticism from religious groups and civil society organizations, who expressed concerns over its potential impact on the education system.
