The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Benue State has ended a 7-day prayer and fasting for the emergence of a new paramount traditional ruler (Ochi’Idoma) for the Idoma kingdom.

Our correspondent reports that the development followed the hunting expedition embarked on by the Ochi’Idoma IV, Dr Elias Ikoyi Obekpa since October, this year.

State Chairman of CAN, Reverend Akpen Leva, said that God will answer their prayers for a worthy Och’Idoma to emerge.

Akpen also called on the public to be vigilant during this  year’s yuletide season and be security conscious while celebrating Christmas and New Year.

In an exaltation, Pastor Dave Ogbole posited that God is interested in kingship amongst men, stressing that, “The concern of who becomes the new Och’Idoma is of interest to God.”

The association  has declared a seven-day fast and prayer to seek  God’s guidance in the selection of a new Och’Idoma following the announcement by the state government that December 30, 2021, has been set aside as the date for the selection.
