Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has vowed that members of the coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) remain committed to rescuing Nigeria from what he described as the “stranglehold of an emerging dictatorship.”

Atiku made the declaration after visiting former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, in Abuja.

It will be recalled that Malami was recently attacked by thugs in his home state of Kebbi, while Tambuwal was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of misappropriation of funds.

The ADC has repeatedly condemned such developments, accusing members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating political violence, including the recent disruption of an ADC meeting in Kaduna State.

Following his visit to Tambuwal and Malami, Atiku wrote on his social media pages that Nigerians were being harassed by anti-democratic forces under the APC-led administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He assured that he would not relent in defending the rights of those affected.

“We will be unrelenting in defending the rights of every Nigerian being harassed by anti-democratic forces of the Tinubu-led APC administration. That was my assurance to Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, today,” Atiku wrote in a Facebook post.

The former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) added that the coalition being built was deliberately structured to save Nigeria’s democracy.

“The coalition that we are pushing is aimed at rescuing our democracy from the stranglehold of this emerging dictatorship. We shall be deliberate in joining hands to save our democracy,” he affirmed.
