The police prosecutor, ASP John Atine, told the court that Miss Christiana, a secretary for a cooperative company located in Gauraka, conspired with the second accused, her fiancé, and forged the company’s pass book to embezzle the said amount.
He further told the court that the matter, which was reported to the police on September 9, was discovered following an internal audit by the company, recently.
“Both of you them confessed to committing the crime during the police investigation,” he added.
Magistrate Ruth Ibrahim sought the response of the two accused persons, but both of them denied the allegation and sought for bail.
She granted the plea, but ordered their remand pending fulfilment of their bail conditions by presenting two sureties that must be residents to the area under the court’s jurisdiction, and one that has property with a certificate of occupancy.
The matter was adjourned to October 5.
