Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have neutralised two suspected kidnappers and rescued two female victims from captivity in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the command’s quarterly achievements, noting that the operation was carried out by the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad in collaboration with the military.

He said the suspects were trailed following kidnapping incidents in Ibusa and Enu-Ani Mega City, Ogwashi-Uku, leading the operatives to their hideout along the Obulu-Uku Power Line.

According to him, the suspects opened fire on sighting the security team, triggering a gun duel in which three members of the kidnapping syndicate sustained gunshot wounds while the victims were successfully rescued.

He added that the injured suspects were taken to hospital, where they were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

Items recovered from the scene include an AK-47 rifle, 19 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and N4.5 million in cash.
