Ghanaian music continues to take a step higher each year and well, this year amongst thousands of records churned out by artists these are our top 10.

Sefa ft Mr Drew – E Choke

Black Avenue Musik queen, Sefa linked up with in-demand singer, Mr Drew for this smash hit record, E Choke. The record was produced by Rony Turn Me Up and has already amassed over 2.5 million views on the official video shared on YouTube in April.

Amerado – Abotr3 (Patience) ft Black Sherif

Kumasi rapper, Amerado and Black Sherif got together for ‘Abotr3’, track number one off Amerado’s critically acclaimed Patience EP released in October.

On the record, as the title suggests, Amerado raps about how much being patient has paid off for him. The Samsney produced record has over 1.3 million views for the official video which premiered in October.

Yaw Tog, Stormzy & Kwesi Arthur – Sore (Remix)

The 2020 viral hit record by Yaw Tog originally featured O`kenneth, City Boy, Reggie and Jay bahd. The song was however given a facelift and amplified with the remix featuring popular UK rapper, Stormzy and Ghana’s own Kwesi Arthur.

Sore Remix is part of Yaw Tog’s debut 7 track EP time which was released in March.

Sarkodie ft Oxlade – Non Living Thing

Ghana’s own rap legend, Sarkodie signed up buzzing Nigerian singer, Oxlade for this one released as a single off Sarkodie’s sixth studio album No Pressure.

On the sad love themed record produced by DJ Coublon, Sarkodie and Oxlade effortlessly blend with Oxlade doing justice to the hook and Sarkodie doing his trademark rap. Can’t place a lot of records above this one.

Fameye – Praise

“An inspiring life story capturing how hopeful he has been throughout his musical journey.” On the record, Fameye “attributes it all to God as he eulogizes Him for bestowing unto him mercy and grace.”

Quite a relatable and beautifully sung tune no wonder it would soon become a hit record adding to Fameye’s repertoire of hits.

Mr Drew – Mood

Since being the first runner up at the MTN Hitmaker 6 in 2017, Mr Drew has forged on to improve his craft and this year paid off being the most successful year in his decade long music career.

Now regarded as one of Ghana’s top artists, Mr Drew dropped this smashing hit tune “Mood”, a record which performed well on charts and has gone on to amass over 1.3 million views for its official music video on YouTube.

King Promise – Slow Down

Produced by the collaboratory effort of Nonso Amadi and Killbeatz, Slow Down is one of the biggest songs out of Ghana in 2021. Released under his Legacy Life Entertainment label, the official music video for the record shared on YouTube in May already has over 1.8 million views.

Black Sherif – Second Sermon

About two months after releasing First Sermon, Black Sherif released the sequel dubbed Second Sermon and the record doubled the success of the previous.

Second Sermon arguably Ghana’s biggest record of 2021 details Black Sherif’s struggles and life. The record was dedicated to his favourite cousin ‘Sister Mariam’ who sadly passed away two weeks before he released the First Sermon.

Premiered in July, the official music video for Black Sherif’s Second Sermon has over 8 million views. Second Sermon already has a remix with Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer, Burna Boy.

Gyakie ft Omah Lay – Forever Remix

After dominating charts and playlists with ‘Forever’ off of her August 2020 released Seed EP, Gyakie decided to amplify the record even further by featuring Nigerian superstar singer, Omah Lay for the remix.

The remix as expected served the purpose, doing massive numbers, twice as the original, with the official music video amassing over 22 million YouTube views. Definitely one of Ghana’s biggest records in recent years.

KiDi – Touch It

Taken from his Golden Boy album, KiDi’s Touch It can easily be termed record of the year backed up with facts that the record appeared on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart, peaked number 7 on Triller Global chart and also getting over 100 million views on TikTok with the Touch It Challenge.

The official music video for the record released in May has over 15 million YouTube views.
