Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Atu Osamwonyi, has lost his bid to emerge as candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Orhionmwon constituency in the next general election.
His opponent, Aghimien Ndidi, scored 2,777 votes to pick the ticket for the constituency.
Meanwhile, the spoeaker, Blessing Agbebaku, won the ticket to contest for the Owan West constituency seat in the 2027 general election.
Daily Trust reports that Speaker Agbebaku, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, polled a total of 2,846 votes to defeat Mr Atafo Gold, who scored 60 votes.
In Esan North-East II constituency Hon Maria Edeko, won her re-election bid, scoring 1,549 votes to defeat other candidates.
Other who emerged winner include Hon Eric Okaka, Owan East constituency, Hon Ahmed Waziri Oshomah, Etsako Central constituency, Hon Iyamu Bright, Orhionmwon II, Victor Giwa, Esan South- East constituency, and Hon Kaycee Osamwonyi, Uhunmwode constituency.
Others are Edwin Osamuede, won Oredo East constituency, Dr Richard Edosa Oredo West, Hon Aminu Ibrahim Imafidor, Etsako East constituency, Hon Jonathan Ibhamawu, and Hon Abdulganiyu Akokhia were also elected as candidates for Esan West and Etsako West II constituencies.
In Esan Central, Hon Fada Eigbiremonlen, emerged winner, Hon Andrew Uzamere, Ovia North-East II, Hon. Donald Okogbe, Akoko-Edo II, while Ms Jennifer Iyamu clinched the Egor constituency ticket.
