President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian Muslims and the global Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid Al-Adha, calling for sacrifice, devotion and selflessness.

Tinubu, in a message he signed, stated that Eid Al-Adha represents the high point of the sacred first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, a period filled with opportunities for acts of worship and good deeds.

“To truly honour Eid, we must embody these virtues, just as Prophet Ibrahim (AS) exemplified complete submission to Allah’s will and as our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has taught us. Let this sacred occasion renew our commitment to these ideals.

“Eid Al-Adha also reminds us of our responsibilities beyond faith: to show resilience, tolerance, compassion, and dedication to the progress of our beloved country.”

The President also reaffirmed his commitment and appreciation for the faith, patience, and perseverance Nigerians show, as his government implements bold reforms.

“Together, we have weathered challenging times and are approaching a brighter horizon. Though the journey has not been easy, and some doubted our direction, the resilience of public and private sector leaders, along with the steadfast support of most Nigerians, is yielding results. I assure you that the toughest days are behind us. We are entering a new era of renewed hope and prosperity that we promised two years ago.

“We may not yet be where we aspire to be, but I urge all Nigerians not to lose hope. Let us hold on to our faith and persevere. Our reforms are gaining traction, with key economic indicators now moving in a positive direction. Soon, all will feel the benefits.”

He explained that the ultimate objective of his government’s reforms is not just to improve statistics but to transform lives and set Nigeria firmly on the path to sustainable development.

“There are no quick fixes, but we are committed to repairing the foundations of our economy once and for all. Our administration will continue acting in the nation’s best interest, ensuring that the gains we are recording translate into improving people’s lives.”

Tinubu called on Nigerians to continue their prayers for the front-line officers, who risk their lives for the safety and security of all Nigerians.

 

Atiku harps on compassion, sacrifice

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emphasised the importance of embodying the festival’s core values of sacrifice and devotion to God.

In a statement by his media office on Thursday, Atiku encouraged Muslims to seek God’s mercy through prayers for nation during this sacred period. 

He said, “The essence of Eid al-Adha, rooted in the traditions of Prophet Ibrahim and upheld by Prophet Muhammad, calls us to reflect kindness and peace in our lives.”

The Waziri Adamawa urged Muslims to extend charity to the less privileged, noting that, “kindness and generosity are integral to our faith – values that we must uphold not only during this celebration but at all times.”

He also called on leaders at all levels to embrace compassion and sacrifice, as exemplified by the festival. 

 

Speaker Abbas urges Muslims to pray for Nigeria

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has felicitated Nigerian Muslims on the occasion of the Eid Al-Adha celebrations, urging them to use the occasion to pray for Nigeria.

Abbas, in a statement through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, urged Nigerian Muslims to pray for the country, particularly the leaders.

The Speaker also implored them to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, one of the hallmarks of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

While extending the admonition to all Nigerians, Abbas called for personal and collective sacrifices for the nation towards its development and growth.

He said a period like this calls for renewed commitment to the worship of Allah (SWT), noting that with unity of purpose, Nigerians can prosper.

 

Barau asks Nigerians to pray for peace, unity

Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has emphasised the importance of unity among the citizens.

In a Sallah message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau urged Muslims and all Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity and progress of the country.

Senator Barau called on Nigerians to continue to pray for the well-being of the country and to offer their full support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that the president is genuinely working for the peace and socio-economic prosperity of the nation.

“I wish Muslims, and indeed all Nigerians, a memorable Eid Al-Adha. This season reminds us to obey Allah’s instructions, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim. True Muslims should adhere to peace, tolerance, justice and charity.

“In the spirit of this season, irrespective of our faiths, let us rededicate and commit ourselves to the dreams and aspirations of building a strong, united and economically sound country,” he said.

 

Gombe gov urges sacrifice, prayers for Nigeria 

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has urged the Muslim ummah to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, obedience and tolerance, which define the essence of the Eid Al-Adha.

In his Sallah goodwill message, Governor Yahaya called on the faithful to submit wholeheartedly to the will of Allah in all circumstances, just as Prophet Ibrahim (AS) demonstrated. 

He emphasised the importance of upholding the values of love, compassion and good neighbourliness as exemplified by the prophets of Islam.

“As we mark this year’s Eid Al-Adha, let us reflect on its core message, which is total submission, obedience, selflessness, and unwavering faith.”

“Islam teaches us peace, tolerance, modesty and love. These values must guide our individual conduct and collective aspirations as a people,” he said.

 

Gov Oyebanji urges peaceful coexistence

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has extended his felicitation to the Muslim ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid Al-Adha festival, calling for peaceful coexistence in the state.

In a goodwill message signed by his media aide, Mr Yinka Oyebode, Oyebanji highlighted the significance of the Eid Al-Adha as a festival of sacrifice and joy for the Muslim faithful.

The governor enjoined Muslims to imbibe the core lesson of Eid Al-Adha, which is total submission to the will of the Almighty Allah.

He also stressed the importance of love, brotherhood and peaceful coexistence among Muslims and adherents of other religions in the state.

He equally emphasised the need for collective efforts in the task of developing Ekiti, describing the Muslim community as an important partner in taking the state to a higher pedestal of development.

 

Bauchi Gov urges Muslims to imbibe spirit of selflessness, love

Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, has called on the Muslim ummah to imbibe the spirit of selflessness and love on the occasion of the Eid Al-Adha celebrations.

In a message by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor urged all citizens to reflect on the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim and imbibe the spirit of selflessness and love for one another.

The governor called on all residents of the state to use the period to strengthen the bonds of peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and unity, regardless of religious, ethnic, or political differences.

 

Ganduje urges sacrifice, charity

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, urged the Muslim ummah across Nigeria and the world to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and charity on the occasion of the Eid Al-Adha.

Ganduje, in a message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, described Eid Al-Adha as a significant reminder of the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his willingness to submit to the will of Almighty Allah.

He urged Muslims to emulate this great example by embracing the values of selflessness, generosity and service to humanity.

“As we mark this sacred festival, I call on all Muslims to reflect on the essence of Eid Al-Adha, which teaches us the importance of sacrifice, obedience to divine command, and the spirit of giving.”

 

Sanwo-Olu calls for peaceful co-existence

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged Lagos residents and Nigerians at large, particularly Muslim faithful, to continue on the path of spirituality and peaceful co-existence as they celebrate Eid-El-Adha.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in an Eid-El-Kabir message issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, rejoiced with Muslims, advising them to imbibe the lessons of the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim and work for the unity, peace and progress of Lagos State and Nigeria.

He said: “Eid-al-Adha is a symbolic event in the history of mankind, particularly for Muslims, given the bountiful rewards that followed the patience and perseverance of Prophet Ibrahim, who held on tenaciously to his faith in God despite being afflicted.
