The Adamawa State Government, under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has flagged off an electric mobility initiative aimed at reducing dependence on petroleum fuel and improving transportation in the state.
Speaking at the event held at Mahmud Ribadu Square, Jimeta, the governor announced plans to procure 1,000 electric tricycles for distribution to youths at subsidised rates as part of efforts to empower young people and create employment opportunities.
He said the initiative, developed in partnership with Sparrow Mobility Limited and A4&T Company, is designed to address rising transport costs and promote sustainable energy solutions in the state. He also disclosed that over 6,000 households have already benefited from solar energy installations across various local government areas.
Governor Fintiri said the administration remains committed to improving living standards through innovation and strategic partnerships under its “Fresh Air” agenda.

The Commissioner for Transport Development, Wunfe Anthony, said the project would reduce operating costs for tricycle riders, ease transportation challenges, and boost economic activity in the state.
The Group Chief Executive Officer of A4&T Company, Ayodeji Ademilua, said the initiative followed a feasibility visit to Adamawa in May 2025 and described the project as a model for sustainability, affordability, and economic growth.
The Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency, Dr. Abba Abubakar Aliyu, said several mini-grid projects with a combined capacity of 35 megawatts have been established across the state, with more underway, attributing the progress to the state government’s commitment to energy development.
