Three fish traders from the Ukemberagya community in the Gaambe-Tiev area of Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, have been found dead two days after they were declared missing.

The victims – Mr Iorvor Akuu and Mr Dada Ugee, both from Chembe village and Mrs Iorngurum Jato of Tse Igbur – were last seen on Friday as they set out for Zebo Market in Wukari LGA of Taraba State.

Their mutilated bodies were discovered on Sunday, April 7, along the dune of River Benue, near the Zebo Market axis.

The discovery followed a search operation conducted by a combined team of military personnel, police officers, and local community members.

A community leader in Logo, who declined to be named, confirmed that the victims were buried the same day in their respective hometowns.

Zebo Market is located in a Jukun settlement in Taraba State, an area where tensions between neighbouring communities have been reported in the past.

While the motive and perpetrators of this latest killing remain unknown, local sources suspect foul play and have called for a thorough investigation to bring the culprits to justice.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Benue State Command, CSP Catherine Anene, said she was yet to receive a formal report on the incident.
