Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday night held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

It was the first time the President was meeting with Governor Fubara since he was reinstated following the lifting of the state of emergency declared earlier in Rivers.

Speaking to State House correspondents after his meeting with Tinubu, Governor Fubara said his visit was to formally inform the President that he had resumed office.

On what was discussed, Fubara described it as a “father-son” conversation. “It was about thanking him and seeking his guidance in areas where issues could arise, so we don’t find ourselves in another crisis,” he said.

The governor further disclosed that President Tinubu advised him on steps to take going forward to sustain peace in the state.

Asked if the peace in Rivers was fragile, Fubara responded: “As far as I’m concerned, we have made peace. Fubara and his principal are working together.”
