The immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, will receive Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the APC today, Daily Trust reports.

Ganduje returned to Nigeria from London in the early hours of Monday and is expected to proceed to Kano later in the day to begin the political engagements.

A statement signed by his Chief of Staff, Comrade Muhammad Garba, said the former Kano State governor arrived in Abuja at about 5:30 a.m. aboard a British Airways flight after attending the graduation ceremony of his daughter, Fatima, at King’s College, London.

Also expected to welcome the governor is Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, who has been in Kano since yesterday (Sunday) and had toured camps troops deployed in the northern part of Kano deployed to intensify operations and flush out bandits terrorising the communities.

Barau is expected to also join Ganduje to lead key party activities in Kano State, including the electronic registration of members.

According to the statement, Ganduje is expected to play a prominent role in the APC’s electronic membership registration exercise in Kano State, a programme he reportedly initiated during his tenure as national chairman of the party.

“Dr Ganduje is scheduled to actively participate in the APC electronic registration of members, a programme he personally initiated while serving as national chairman of the party,” Garba said.

The statement further disclosed that Ganduje would also be central to activities surrounding the formal reception of Governor Yusuf into the APC.

“He will also play a leading role in the activities lined up for the formal reception of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who is set to defect to the APC,” Garba added.

Garba said the engagements are part of broader efforts to strengthen party structures and consolidate recent political realignments in Kano State, noting that Ganduje’s involvement is aimed at ensuring cohesion and effective mobilisation within the party.
