The North-Eastern University (NEU), Gombe, has entered into strategic academic partnerships with two of Malaysia’s top institutions – the University of Malaya (UM) and the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM).

The landmark agreements were sealed during an official visit to Malaysia led by NEU’s founder and Pro-Chancellor, Dr Sani Jauro, the Dan Lawan of Gombe.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr Jauro said the partnerships reflect NEU’s dedication to building a world-class academic environment anchored on innovation, ethics, and excellence.

“This collaboration will not only enrich our academic foundation but also position NEU as a bridge between Africa and Asia,” he stated.

According to a statement signed by the university’s Assistant Information Officer, Mukthar Sani Saulawa, the agreements provide for student and staff exchange programmes, joint research supervision, and collaborative projects in emerging technologies.

Under the deal, NEU students will be able to participate in semester-based exchange programmes in Malaysia, gaining exposure to advanced research facilities and international learning experiences, with credits fully transferable to their home degree programmes.
