Gov. Lawal Appoints DG for Zamfara Roads Fund

Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the appointment of Bashir Abdullahi Gusau as the Director-General of the Zamfara State Roads Fund.

The Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, disclosed this in a statement issued in Gusau.

He said the appointment followed the passage of the law establishing the State Roads Fund, one of the requirements under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

RAAMP is a World Bank-supported initiative aimed at improving rural roads and agricultural transportation infrastructure.

According to the statement, Bashir Abdullahi is an experienced public finance administrator with more than 30 years in the Zamfara State civil service.

He previously served as State Cashier, Central Account Officer, Head of Internal Control and Director of Salary at the Ministry of Finance.

Until his retirement in December 2025, he was Director of Finance and Accounts in the Cabinet Affairs Office under the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

Abdullahi holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and is a fellow of several professional institutes.

Governor Lawal charged the new appointee to deploy his experience and integrity in managing the fund for the development of the state.
