The body of a yet-to-be-identified herder has been found in a fadama (a type of lowland farm) in Riwaza, near the Fobgbe community in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Villagers who spoke to our reporter on Tuesday said a farmer discovered the corpse around 6:22 pm on Monday evening while returning from his farm.

According to the villagers, the herder had been missing since Sunday after he went out to graze his cows and never returned to his settlement in Riwaza.

“It was on Monday evening when the Ardo Fulani [Fulani community leader] in Fobge raised the alarm that a Fulani man who went to rear cows had not returned,” a source said.

“It wasn’t until a farmer on his way back from his farm saw the corpse in the fadama,” the source added.

The Ardo Fulani, Shehu Usman, confirmed the discovery of the body.

He stated that the deceased left with his cows on Sunday for grazing and didn’t return.

The Ardo Fulani explained that the incident was not reported to security operatives due to the long distance and the poor condition of the road from the village to Kwali.
