I survive on human parts — Suspect

A suspected human parts trafficker simply identified as Gani, has confessed selling human parts for a living in Ogun State.

The suspect was arrested on Saturday by troops of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, operating under the 35 Artillery Brigade, in the Kulanla Odomoola area of Ogun State.

In his confessional statement, the suspect admitted selling human parts to interested people for a living.

“I have been surviving on selling human parts for the last 10 years. I dig up most of the parts I sell from newly dug graves in cemeteries while I get others from corpses abandoned by the roadsides,” he said.

The suspect, who confessed his activities to an angry mob who had attempted to lynch him before he was rescued by the troops, was allegedly on his way to deliver a body part to a buyer when he was accosted.

The suspect was consequently handed over to the police at Noforija for further investigations and subsequent prosecution.

Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 81 Division Nigerian Army, who confirmed the incident, said his arrest was in line with the commitment of the Nigerian Army (NA) to ensure the security of lives and property of Nigerians.

Lieutenant-Colonel Ayani stated that the suspect, alongside with the exhibits, was subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police at Noforija for further investigation and possible prosecution.

“The troops rescued the suspect from an angry mob who attempted to lynch him,’’ he said.
