The captain of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Vincent Aboubakar, is leaving no stone un-turned in his bid to win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Golden Boot. 

The Garoua born striker has so far scored 5 goals with the latest goal coming in the 1-1 draw against Cape Verde. 

Indomitable Lions team-mate Karl Toko Ekambi,  Malawi’s Gabadinho Mhango, Tunisia’s Wahbi Khazri, Mali’s Ibrahim Kone are currently Aboubakar’s closest challengers on two goals apiece. 

The likes of Senegal talisman Sadio Mane, Liverpool team-mate Salah and Black Stars of Ghana captain, Andre Ayew have scored a goal each. 

Not left out are Super Eagles’  Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi and Moses Simon who have also scored a goal apiece. 

Max Gradel has Ivory Coast’s only goal of the tournament so far, while Sofiane Boufal, Selim Amallah and Zakaria Aboukhlal have led Morocco’s charge into the knockout stages. As at yesterday, 45 goals have been scored with 8 of them coming from the penalty spot as the group stage came to an end. 

Meanwhile, Ethiopia is the first team to officially exit the tournament after coming last with just a point in Group A. 

Other teams who will exit the tournament regardless of what they play in the final group games are Zimbabwe, Comoros and Mauritania.
