A Magistrate Court, number 7, in Nomansland, Kano, has ordered the remand of five individuals on allegations of criminal conspiracy, human trafficking and other related offences.
The accused are Nana Abdulmajid of Kaduna State, Martin Ojudele of Anambra State, and Samaila, a resident of Kano. They were charged with attempting to traffic a newborn to Anambra.
Prosecution counsel, Barrister Habiba H. M. Ado, informed the court that investigations also implicated the baby’s mother, Hajiya Amina, and the alleged father, Muhammad Hassan of Brigade Gama Quarters, in the scheme.
Both were arraigned alongside Hassan’s mother on charges of conspiracy, fornication, and attempted crime.

All defendants pleaded not guilty.
A request for bail by the defense counsel was rejected by the court, which cited the circumstances surrounding the case and the individuals involved.
Presiding Magistrate Halima Wali ordered the accused to be remanded in a correctional facility.
The case was adjourned to October 2 for the continuation of the hearing.
