An exhilarating conclusion to the National Peace & Unity Polo Tournament at the Keffi Polo Ranch last weekend that featured an intriguing match-up between the two high-goal teams and a handful of medium and Low-goal teams was expectedly exciting and historic.

The outcome came down to the final chukka, with defending champions, Jos Malcomines surviving a late comeback from Keffi Ponys to clinch their President Cup and extend their supremacy just as its second side, Malcomines (2) came through as the winners of the glittering Governor’s Cup.

 “We really clicked as a team. Each one of us knew where to go during a play and kept our cool throughout the tournament. We had a lot of fun and never let ourselves get down if a play didn’t go our way.” Declared Malcomines Patron, Murtala Laushi.

“To defeat a great side like Keffi Ponys is very special. I’m proud of our team spirit and determination. It was a great moment for us to be able to hold back highly motivated players who were bent on revenge and winning the high-goal title,” added the elated Malcomines Captain Hamisu Buba.

Polo Royals reports that other teams that carted home laurels during five days of gusty games and plenty of rains include CSP Usman Michika led Alhusna Trademark side that won the Emir of Keffi Cup and AFDEN Petroleum teams that carted home the low-goal title.

Other top finishers and runners-up winners of the Peace & Unity polo Fiesta witnessed by top politicians and diplomats include Keffi Ponys, Kaduna Trappco, Max Air and debuting 313 Dulce team.

Chief Host and promoter of the National Peace &Unity polo tourney; Honourable Ahmed Wadada expressed gratitude to all the players, the politicians and the teeming lovers of the king of games for honouring the invitations to be part of the initiative, adding that the event has truly presented an avenue for peace.
