A 30-year-old Rivers resident identified as Richard Emmanuel has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his female lover, Caroline Sunday, over infidelity accusation.
The incident happened at Abraham Street, Eneka community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Residents told Daily Trust that the suspect had on Saturday confronted the deceased lover over claim that she was being unfaithful to him, an accusation the deceased denied, which led to arguments and physical confrontation.
The suspect allegedly assaulted the woman during the confrontation, causing her to fall and hit her head against a sharp edge of a wall, resulting in severe injuries.

Neighbours, who rushed to the scene after hearing Caroline’s cries for help, attempted to revive her after they found her in a pool of blood, but it was unsuccessful.
Police operatives from the Eneka Police Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Lewis, who responded to a distress call, arrived the scene, and arrested the suspect, who was already restrained from fleeing by the residents of the area.
The police reportedly rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was confirmed dead.
Her corpse was subsequently deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Daily Trust gathered that the suspect is currently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Port Harcourt.
Police spokesperson in Rivers State, ASP Blessing Kaborlo Agabe, who confirmed the incident, said investigation is ongoing.
She said, “I can confirm that the suspect is in police custody. Investigation has commenced with a view to ensuring justice in the matter.”
