The police in Lagos State on Thursday arraigned a 43-year-old man, Sunday Omede, in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly beating his wife.

Omede, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of assault and unlawful abuse. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 30, at 12.03am at Badagry area of the state.

Adeosun said that the defendant physically assaulted the complainant, Mrs Janet Omede and inflicted injuries on her body.

Adeosun said that the offences contravened Sections 170 and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until June 3, for hearing.(NAN)
