Nigerians have been assured of improved safety on the Abuja–Kaduna highway following enhanced security presence and ongoing reconstruction works along the route.

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, gave the assurance during a tour of the highway on Thursday, where he commended the Tinubu administration for addressing both security and infrastructure challenges.

Omokri noted that military outposts have been stationed at regular intervals, making the highway far safer than in previous years when it was notorious for kidnappings and bandit attacks.

“The government has done what needs to be done on security, and it is also addressing road construction. Abuja to Kaduna road is safe. There are security outposts at every kilometre, and they are mobile. The security here is not by faith but by the visible work of government,” he said.

Omokri said he had invited Nollywood actor Wale Ojo on the tour, who chose to film scenes from his upcoming action movie Lagos Heist on the highway as a testament to its safety.

“The movie was meant for Vegas, but I said no—let’s do it here in Nigeria,” Omokri said.

Ojo, impressed by the security and construction work, said: “Kaduna road was notorious for attacks in the past, but government has addressed security. I want to film in the North to showcase unity.”

Omokri further commended the road’s durability, noting it is being built with reinforced concrete and steel to last at least 50 years.
