A nurse, Naja’atu Nuhu, on Thursday, dragged her former husband, Kabiru Ishaq, before a Sharia court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, seeking custody of their two children.

She alleged that the former husband left them unkempt and didn’t pay their school fees.

Naja’atu further told the court that the children’s school had called her several times to complain of their dirtiness and unpaid school fees.

She prayed the court to grant her custody of the children and N20, 000 for their monthly upkeep.

The defendant, Ishaq, denied the allegations, saying every Friday he took the children to spend time with their mother, and that they would come back to tell him that their mother went to work and their grandmother sent them back to him.

He said, “The children used to tell me that their grandmother usually sends them to go back to their father’s house in unpleasant and insulting manner.”

The Qadi, Murtala Nasir, urged them to dialogue and agree on who should take custody of the children and adjourned to September 14. (NAN)
