At least three Ekiti state athletes, Abdulazeez Suleiman (para-athletics), Precious Ayodele (Ayo Olopon), and Damilola Oni (cricket) have been invited to camp by their respective national sports federations due to their exceptional performances at the just concluded National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba.
The Technical Advisor to the Governor of Ekiti State on Sports Development, Dr. Olusola Osetoba, thanked God for the successful outing and the feat recorded by Team Ekiti, saying it is a reflection of the Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to sports development in the state.
She said there would be programmes to further develop the young athletes as they have the potential to mount podiums in the nearest future, not only for the state but the country at both national and international contests.
Some of the athletes appreciated the state government for providing the platform for them to showcase their sporting talents, and expressed their readiness to do more in their future events.

Meanwhile, Team returned home with a total of 14 medals, comprising two gold, four silver, and six bronze medals to finish in 18th position.
A total of 103 teenage athletes represented Ekiti State at the annual Youth Games which was held from August 29 to September 6 in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
At the end of the 9th edition of the National Youth Games, Team Lagos dethroned serial winners Delta with a total of 106 medals, comprising 51 gold, 31 silver, and 24 bronze medals.
