Obasanjo: Nigerian economy frustrating SMEs, women

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo Thursday described the Nigerian economy as frustrating for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises operators as well as women. He said this on Wednesday at the Youth Development Centre of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Credit Scheme held in the premises.

Obasanjo during the programme presented over N1million cheque to the beneficiaries of the centre for start-up business.

While sharing the experience he had with some petty traders and youths, he said many people who had ideas were in need of money to start up businesses.

The former president lamented that many Nigerians were frustrated over failed businesses, adding that many of them had shared their horrible experiences and information with him.

Obasanjo said the economic situation of the country had made his friend, a legal luminary, Afe Babalola shed tears, having known what the petty traders in the country were going through.

Earlier, the Director of Youths Development, OOPL , Ibukun Olagbemiro said  the  project aims at  providing  credit facilities  to young business owners with the support of  Obasanjo.
