The Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko Students’ Union (AAUASU) has called on the Ondo State Government to urgently intervene in the ongoing ASUU-AAUA strike, which has lasted 14 days and brought academic activities to a standstill.
The union, led by its President, Folagbade Greatness, during a Press Briefing on Sunday, said the prolonged industrial action has disrupted the university’s academic calendar, leaving thousands of students frustrated, uncertain about their future, and facing emotional, psychological and financial hardship.
It noted that while many students have been forced to leave campus due to the indefinite nature of the strike, those who remain continue to endure difficult conditions.
Describing the situation as unacceptable, the Students’ Union stressed that the continued shutdown is delaying graduations, disrupting academic plans and placing additional financial burdens on parents and guardians.

It urged the Ondo State Government, led by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and other relevant stakeholders to immediately engage with the leadership of ASUU-AAUA to resolve the issues through dialogue.
The union also issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the state government to provide a clear and satisfactory response towards ending the strike, warning that failure to act would leave it with no choice but to mobilise students for lawful, peaceful and democratic protest to protect their educational rights.
While insisting that the ultimatum is not a threat, the Students’ Union described it as a sincere appeal driven by the hardship and uncertainty students are experiencing, urging the government to act swiftly to safeguard the future of thousands of AAUA students.
