Yobe State Police have arrested two men, Umar Abubakar (24) and Abdulaziz Mohammad (25), from Kumbotso LGA in Kano State, for ATM card fraud.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the suspects were apprehended at a bank’s ATM gallery in Damaturu.
They specialize in defrauding unsuspecting victims by pretending to help them, then swapping or cloning their cards to withdraw money. The arrests were made following a credible intelligence report.
In a separate incident, police in Potiskum arrested Usman Suleman (25) of Babura LGA, Jigawa State, on suspicion of stealing a tricycle. The suspect allegedly stole the tricycle while the rider was at a mosque near a bank in Potiskum to perform his prayers.
