Gunmen, had in the early hours of Saturday, raided the home of the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) in charge of “A” division, in Suleja, Niger State, Ayuba Micha, a Superintendent, from where they allegedly stabbed him to dead.

Police sources in Suleja told our reporter that the attackers, believed to be four in number, went directly to the victim’s house, located at Unguwar Kashu in the Rafin-Sanyi community, on the outskirts of the town around 2 a.m.

“They confronted his wife, asking her to tell them the whereabouts of her husband or she would be dealt with. He appeared at that juncture, and immediately they dragged him out of the house, where they stabbed him to death,” one of the sources said.

The source further stated that the police officer, who typically did not take his rifle home, struggled unsuccessfully to confront his attackers.

A vigilante member in the area reported that the attackers had earlier snatched the victim’s mobile phone along with that of his wife, as well as his ATM card. They later dropped the two phones somewhere near the house but left with the ATM card.

“It was after they left that the two mobile phones were discovered, and the wife used one of the phones to alert his division about the incident,” the source said.

“The police arrived in the area shortly after and took his remains to the morgue of the general hospital in Suleja, where they were deposited,” the source added.

When contacted, the police area commander in Suleja, Muhammad Sani Musa, confirmed the incident.
