Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have detained a couple and another woman for the unlawful possession of a semi-automatic pistol.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a post shared on his X handle, @benHundeyin, on Tuesday.
He stated that officers from the Ipaja Division apprehended the suspects during a stop and search operation in the Ipaja area of the state.
“Officers of Ipaja Division intercepted two ladies and insisted on searching their bags,” Hundeyin explained.

He said after a cursory and non-intrusive look at the contents of their bags, a semi-automatic pistol was found in their possession.
He added that one of the detained women subsequently led the police to the owner of the firearm, who is her husband.
According to Hundeyin, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
He concluded by noting, “That is one less illegal firearm in circulation.”
