The Katsina State Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued five victims.
Command spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said a distress call was received at the Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters at about 9:37 p.m., alerting them of an attempted abduction by armed bandits at Unguwar Basau along Funtua-Gusau Road, Faskari LGA.
The bandits had attacked two vehicles: a Hummer bus (Reg. No. T0510 KN) and a white Mendez truck (Reg. No. LFA 508 YR).
Aliyu said that upon arrival, the police engaged the bandits in a gun battle, overpowering them with superior firepower. All five kidnapped victims—two drivers and three passengers—were successfully rescued.

He said four victims sustained injuries and were rushed to Sheme Primary Healthcare Centre for treatment.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, commended the operatives for their bravery and urged them to maintain momentum in combating banditry.
