The Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee for senatorial primary election has disqualified the incumbent Senator representing Rivers West and immediate past Deputy Governor, Ipalibo Banigo.
Banigo served as deputy governor from 2015 to 2023 when Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, governed the state, and was elected into the Senate in 2023.
Three other aspirants disqualified alongside Banigo are APC 2023 Presidential aspirant, Tein Jackrich, Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree and Dr Wenike Danagogo.
The State Publicity Secretary of APC, Chubike Ikenga, who released the result in Port Harcourt, on Sunday, urged the aspirants to comply with the report.

He said: “We hereby make public the list of cleared and uncleared aspirants for the above party primary as earlier scheduled by the party.
“Consequently, aspirants and members of the party are advised to take note and comply accordingly.
“Furthermore, this is pertinent, to guide unsuspecting party members.” he said.
