The Vice-Chancellor of Bingham University, Abuja, Professor Haruna Kuje Ayuba, has warned newly admitted students of the institution that any involvement in misconduct or criminal activities will attract severe sanctions, including outright expulsion.

Professor Ayuba issued the warning during the University’s 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony, where 1,805 fresh students were formally admitted to the Bingham University academic community.

He described matriculation as a solemn rite that signifies students’ commitment to uphold the University’s rules, values, and Christ-centred philosophy, stressing that discipline and moral conduct are non-negotiable.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that Chapel attendance is compulsory for all students, noting that Monday and Wednesday Chapel hours, as well as Sunday services, are designed to foster spiritual growth and moral discipline in line with the University’s vision.

He stated that Bingham University operates a zero-tolerance policy on examination malpractice, assault, bullying, sexual harassment, drug abuse, cultism, vandalism, riots, and other forms of criminal behaviour, warning that violators would be decisively punished.

“Any student found engaging in these acts will face severe sanctions, including expulsion,” Professor Ayuba cautioned.

He further urged students to conduct themselves with integrity, honesty, accountability, and respect, noting that ignorance of the institution’s rules would not be accepted as an excuse for misconduct.

The VC also advised the students to be security conscious, avoid negative influences, report suspicious activities promptly, and manage their time effectively, adding that their academic success and graduating CGPA would largely depend on their discipline and dedication from the outset.
