A Magistrate Court sitting at Hajj Camp in Kano Municipality heard a disturbing case in which two siblings allegedly severed part of a woman’s nose during a violent altercation over debt repayment.

According to the prosecution, the defendant, Hassana Usman, had borrowed money from Rahama Ayuba to finance her daughter’s wedding but defaulted on repayment.

When Ayuba visited Hassana’s residence at Rijiyar Lemo to demand for her money, Hassana and her brother reportedly launched a physical attack on her, during which part of her nose was cut off.

The siblings were arraigned before the court on charges of causing grievous bodily harm.

During the proceedings, the state counsel, Barrister Safiya Abdullahi, presented two witnesses.

The magistrate adjourned the matter to September 29, for further hearing.
