The Sokoto Concerned Citizens Youth, Women and Elders Group has declared its support for former deputy governor, Manir Muhammad Daniya, to contest the governorship of the state in the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced weekend during a meeting of the group, which brought together representatives from all 23 local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the event, the group’s chairman, Barrister Nuradeen Abdullahi, said their decision followed a thorough assessment of the political landscape and potential candidates for the upcoming elections.
“Of all those being considered for the 2027 Sokoto State governorship, none matches Dr. Manir Muhammad Daniya in terms of competence, credibility, and commitment to the people,” Barr. Abdullahi declared.

He described Dr. Daniya as a loyal and dedicated leader who has remained consistent in his commitment to development and good governance in Sokoto State.
According to him, Dr. Daniya’s vast experience, integrity, and grassroots connection place him in the best position to take over the mantle of leadership from former Governor Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
“Dr. Daniya is not only honest and courageous but also deeply understands the values and dignity of our people. He is in tune with the needs and aspirations of the ordinary citizens,” he added.
Barr. Abdullahi also emphasized that the group – which includes youth, women, elders, and other influential stakeholders – is committed to mobilizing statewide support for Dr. Daniya’s gubernatorial ambition.
“We are ready to campaign and canvass for votes in every part of the state. We believe in his capacity to deliver meaningful progress and continuity in governance,” he stated.
The group concluded its appeal by urging Dr. Manir Daniya to heed their call and officially declare his interest in the governorship race, promising to stand solidly behind him throughout the journey to 2027.
