The Auditor General for the Federation, Shaakaa Chira, has revealed that his office is developing efficient strategies for auditing public accounts in the country.
The auditor general made the disclosure in Abuja on Thursday at a strategic stakeholders’ engagement workshop on enhancing auditing in Nigeria.
“We are currently developing a strategic approach to enhance efficiency in our auditing processes to ensure transparency and accountability. We are also developing an all-encompassing stakeholders’ engagement strategy which will herald formal interactions between the OAuGF and its key stakeholders, individuals or groups, who, by their positions, can influence or are influenced by the work of the OAuGF.
“These stakeholders include the parliament, executive, judiciary, ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), security agencies and development partners.
“Others include media, civil society organisations (CSOs), professional bodies and academic institutions, among others,” he explained.
He said the engagement is critical for stakeholders who will play increased roles in the accountability efforts of the government, while the OAuGF will continue to improve on its work process, reporting and feedback mechanism.
