A 45-year-old man, who was the prime suspect in the killing of a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer in Jigawa State, has died after reportedly falling from a moving vehicle.
This was announced on Saturday by the spokesman for the NSCDC command, ASC Badaruddeen Tijjani, in Dutse.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the officer, Bashir Adamu-Jibril, a Superintendent of the Corps (SC), was killed by suspected hoodlums at the Shuwarin market in the Kiyawa Local Government Area of the state while on official duty.
The deceased, who worked in the Department of Intelligence and Investigation, was allegedly killed by butchers who used a machete to rip open the back of his head.

Tijjani said the suspect, a resident of Shuwarin Town, was arrested on Thursday after the corps received credible information about his alleged involvement in the officer’s death.
‘’The Corps successfully apprehended the suspect on August 7 in Shuwarin town.
“However, while transporting him to the command headquarters at high speed, the suspect miraculously freed himself from the handcuffs and jumped out of the moving vehicle in an attempt to escape,” Tijjani said. According to him, “He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Dutse General Hospital for medical attention, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.”
Tijjani reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring justice for the late officer and to continuing to work tirelessly to uphold law and order across the state. (NAN)
