An angry mob on Wednesday set an unidentified woman ablaze over alleged child theft in Agbarho community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The woman was accused of attempting to steal a 7-year-old boy in the area.
Witnesses said the woman, allegedly from Ughelli town, was caught in the act before being dragged into the street and beaten by residents.
He said despite pleas by some people to spare the victim and hand her over to the police, the mob reportedly overpowered them and set her on fire.

Daily Trust learnt that the incident happened a few days after residents of Ughelli staged a protest over a wave of child abductions in the area.
It was also gathered that parents in the area and surrounding towns have been keeping their children indoors following reports of suspected kidnappers targeting minors.
At the time of filing this report, the Delta Police Command spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, had yet to confirm the incident.
