Tinubu Condoles Shagari’s Family over widow’s death

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former President Shehu Shagari, following the death of his only surviving widow, Hajiya Sutura Shagari.

The President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, described her passing as a “great national loss,” noting that her life embodied humility, service, and dedication.

He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon her soul and for her admission into Jannatul Firdaus.

Tinubu also prayed for strength for the Shagari family, the government, and the people of Sokoto State to bear the loss.

He urged Nigerians to continue to pray for peace and unity across the country, emphasizing the need for collective resilience in challenging times.

Responding on behalf of the family, Capt. Bala Shagari (rtd), the eldest son of the late former President and District Head of Shagari, expressed gratitude to the President for the visit and prayers.

He also thanked Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu for covering the medical expenses of their late mother and for his continued support to the family.

Governor Aliyu, who received the delegation, thanked President Tinubu for honoring the family.
