Vigilantes apprehend 2 hoodlums in FCT

Vigilantes in Abaji have arrested two suspected hoodlums who scaled a fence at the senior staff quarters with the intent to steal.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, a resident of the quarters, reported that the incident occurred around 5.12am.

He said the two suspects entered his neighbour’s house and took cable wires and other household items, but were apprehended when one of the occupants of the house, who came out for ablution, spotted them and raised an alarm.

One of the hoodlums attempted to stab the man with a knife, but the alarm attracted other neighbours who rushed out and overpowered the duo.

Vigilantes were alerted and they came and took the suspects into custody.

Our reporter, who visited the scene, observed the two hoodlums with their hands and legs tied as a mob descended on them.

The hoodlums confessed to regularly scaling fences to steal household items such as cooking pots, car batteries, transformer cables, bags of rice and phones.

The Abaji Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and his team later arrived at the scene and took them away.

The DPO was heard advising residents of the quarters who had lost household items to go to the police station and lodge a formal complaint.
