A statement issued by the Acting Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, Demianus G. Ojijeogu, clarified that results of candidates of Rivers State were released alongside those of other candidates on Monday, November 2, 2020.

The statement also made known that the Rivers State Government is not in any way indebted to the Council. “The results of candidates from the State were never, and are not, being withheld as alleged,”

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Council wishes to state that the results of candidates of Rivers State were released alongside those of other candidates on Monday. The Rivers State Government is not in any way indebted to the Council. The results of candidates from the State were never, and are not, being withheld as alleged,”

WAEC therefore, urged the government, schools, candidates, parents, and other stakeholders in Rivers State to ignore the publication, assuring that WAEC remains a globally recognised assessment body and would not want to be drawn into any form of controversy.
