Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a woman identified as Mrs Joy Temitope Oyetimi (49) over alleged theft of a two- month-old baby in the state.

It was gathered that the incident happened on February 16, 2025 but the suspect was arrested and the baby recovered in May, 2025.

The state Commissioner of police, Olufemi Abanniwonda, in a statement, said the suspect was arrested while the baby had been reunited with his parents.

He said the DPO of Ekpan Police station received a complaint that on February 16, 2025, a 20-year- old woman embarked on a business trip with one Mrs. Joy from Koko to Warri, Delta State.

He said while on their way, Mrs. Joy drugged the woman through a juice, and she slept off, adding that the suspect made away with her two months old baby boy.

He said acting on the report, the command embarked on an intelligence-led investigation, trailed and arrested the suspect, Mrs Joy Temitope Oyetimi.

“After discreet interrogation, the suspects confessed that she was the one who stole the baby,’’ the statement added.

He added that the baby, who is now five months old, has been rescued and reunited with his parents.

The commissioner said the suspect was in custody while the investigation is ongoing.
