A 33-year-old woman, Salamatu, has allegedly attacked her ex-husband’s fiancée with hot water, leaving her with severe injuries.
Witnesses alleged that Salamatu took the actions out of jealousy after learning about her former husband’s impending remarriage.
Safiya, the victim’s best friend, recounted the events leading up to the incident.
She said, “We were together earlier that day before she went to see her fiancé. The next morning, I got a call that she had been bathed with hot water.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident when contacted by our reporter.
He said the attack occurred months before the planned wedding in the Jambutu area of Yola.
According to him, the police are actively investigating the case and have two suspects in custody already.
The victim’s fiancé, 42-year-old Yusuf, claimed he was unaware of the attack, explaining that he had briefly left to help charge his fiancée’s phone in the neighborhood when the assault happened.
One of the suspects, a 23-year-old Fatima Abubakar, a neighbour, denied involvement in the assault.
In her statement to the police, Fatima claimed she was only asked to escort the victim to the police station after the incident and knew nothing about the attack.
She said the victim rushed to her for help after she was attacked.
