Despite being on strike, the chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has saluted workers of the council on the occasion of May Day.

The workers had last month joined their counterparts in the other area councils to down tools following the failure of the council chairmen to implement the new national minimum wage as well as pay other allowances.

But despite the industrial crisis, the AMAC chairman who, along with his colleagues, said they would not be able to implement the new wage, wished the workers well as they marked the day.

He said, ‘’Today, we celebrate your hard work, commitment, and contributions to our collective success. Your tireless efforts have been instrumental in driving our council’s progress and delivering essential services to our communities.

‘’I appreciate your dedication, expertise and passion. Your work has made a significant impact on the lives of AMAC residents.

‘’Let’s continue working together to build a brighter future for our community,’’ the chairman said in a statement he personally signed.
