The Zamfara State First Lady, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has flagged off the 2026 Ramadan food distribution programme targeting 50,000 beneficiaries across the state.
The flag-off ceremony, held in Shinkafi Local Government Area, marked the commencement of distribution across all 147 wards of the state, according to a statement by her Press Secretary, Hajiya Rabi Yusuf.
She said the initiative was aimed at sustaining humanitarian support to vulnerable households and easing economic hardship during the holy month of Ramadan.
“To guarantee transparency and accountability, ward-level distribution committees have been inaugurated to ensure the items reach the intended beneficiaries,” she said, urging committee members to uphold integrity and fairness.

The First Lady appreciated Governor Dauda Lawal for his support and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to the welfare of the less privileged.
Each package contains 20kg of rice; 5kg each of beans, sugar, millet and maize; as well as salt, vegetable oil, spaghetti and wrappers for women.
