The wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has urged intending pilgrims from the state to be good ambassadors of Zamfara and Nigeria during the 2026 Hajj exercise.

She gave the advice while bidding farewell to the pilgrims at the Gusau International Airport ahead of their departure to Saudi Arabia.

The airlift also marked the first international flight from the airport built by the Dauda Lawal administration.

The first lady urged the pilgrims to uphold the virtues of patience, discipline, unity and good conduct throughout their stay in the Holy Land.

She also called on them to pray for peace, stability and progress in Zamfara State.

As part of support for female pilgrims, Hajiya Huriyya distributed hijabs to women participating in the pilgrimage.

Earlier, she held a meeting with the Chairman of the Zamfara State Hajj Commission, Alhaji Musa Mallaha, and members of the commission’s female volunteer group to discuss logistics and welfare arrangements for the pilgrims.

The discussions focused on transportation, welfare support and operational guidelines to ensure a smooth Hajj exercise.

Mallaha commended the first lady for her support and commitment to the welfare of pilgrims, saying her interventions would contribute to the success of the exercise.
