The Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB) has urged pupils across the state to embrace agricultural education as a pathway to national development and food security.
The call was made during state final of the Agricultural Education Training Programme (AETP) quiz competition for primary and junior secondary schools held at Government Girls Arabic Secondary School.
The competition featured pupils and students who earlier emerged winners at the inter-school and zonal inter-Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) levels.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of ZSUBEB, Nasiru Garba Anka, commended the participants for their performance and praised stakeholders for supporting the programme.

According to him, the confidence and knowledge displayed by the pupils show that the future of education in the state is promising.
He said the competition was not only about winning prizes but also about building confidence, promoting healthy academic rivalry and encouraging excellence among young learners.
Anka also applauded teachers and school administrators for their dedication in nurturing the students.
Earlier, the Director of Academic Services at the board said the Agricultural Education Training Programme was designed to promote agricultural knowledge, stimulate interest in modern farming practices and help young learners appreciate the importance of agriculture to national development.
At the end of the contest, Kaura Namoda Zone emerged winner in the primary school category, while Talata Mafara Zone and Anka Zone came second and third respectively.
In the junior secondary school category, Gusau Zone took first place, followed by Talata Mafara Zone and Kaura Namoda Zone.
The board congratulated the winners and urged all participants to remain committed to academic excellence, stressing that education remains a powerful tool for personal and societal development.
