Zulum drops two commissioners

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has relieved two commissioners of their appointments.

This was announced in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, on Thursday.

The officials affected are the commissioners for Environment, Engr Emat Kois, and Intergovernmental and Special Duties, Hon Tukur Ibrahim.

The statement noted that Zulum expressed appreciation to the two officials and wished them the best in their future endeavours.

The governor, however, announced that Engr. Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan will replace the two relieved officers.

Meanwhile, Governor Zulum also approved Professor Yusuf Gana Balami’s appointment as the Executive Chairman of Borno State Secondary Education Board.

Balami, Professor of Education Psychology, hails from Hawul, in the southern part of the state.

He worked with Borno State Ministry of Education between 1984 and 1988, and later proceeded to the University of Maiduguri as graduate assistant and he became a professor in 2014.

He is a member of several professional bodies and has authored countless publications as lead author or co-author.

Zulum congratulated Professor Balami and urged him to deploy his years of experience in the education sector, both as an administrator and an academic, in reshaping the quality of secondary education in Borno.

The statement also added that all appointments were communicated to the Borno State House of Assembly for confirmation.
